am montag schon wurde im 4hero forum das neue album von marc mac
online gestellt. der zeitpunkt der veröffentlichung ist überraschend,
hat marc mac doch grade ein hervorragendes album veröffentlicht
mit dem titel how about a game of chess.

das jetzt herausgekommne album trägt den titel it's right to be civil, und, dies allein reicht nicht,
den untertitel beats from the motion picture. eine sehr politische platte,
mit samples u.a. von martin luther king, jr. oder rosa parks.

titel wie by any means, atlanta walking oder the back of the bus holen eine zeit des
aufbruchs und des protests zurück - fast scheint es mir, als sei it's right to be civil
eine reflektierende antwort marc macs auf die rassenunruhen in england und die
ausschreitungen in frankreich. diese antwort fällt eindeutig aus: hiphop mit klarem
bekenntnis zu disco, soul, jazz und blues. der sound der protestierenden jugend
ist ein andrer: grime und dubstep auf der insel, auch hiphop in frankreich hat
ein andres feeling.

was marc macs album dennoch so besonders, so aktuell macht, ist die behutsamkeit
in der instrumentierung, die punktgenauen arrangements voller unmittelbarkeit.
vor dem geistigen auge des hörers entsteht der im untertitel suggerierte
film quasi als logische konsequenz. dieses album ist keine eintagsfliege,
sondern ein echtes geschenk!

ganz schön dampf abgelassen. manchmal kommt eben alles zusammen ...

Well as some of you may know our ICA days are over for a while as we pack up our record boxes and head over to our new
venue on the South bank- The National Film Theatre.

First Event kicks off on the 21st April, followed by the 19th May,23rd June,21st July. I'll be sending futher info next
week but I can confirm that we'll be showing feature films in the cinema with each event. Good line up so far with titles
to be revealed as they come through.

We will be back at the ICA for some one off events later in the year but for now it's all change.
